Alex Urfer Diversity and Enrichment Scholarship

(CUUI Use) For Academic Year 2023-2024. The Alex Urfer Diversity & Enrichment Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the OT/PT chair and faculty. The award shall be given to a 3rd year Doctor of PT student upon entering the third year of study OR a Master of Occupational Therapy student entering their final year of study. Award shall be given to an unmarried student who are from under-represented groups of students in the cohort beginning their third year of study. This designation and preference addresses the continued lack of general diversity in the Doctor of Physical Therapy and Master of Occupational Therapy programs as noted in the recommendations of the Professional Accreditation Councils/Committees. In the absence of a qualified candidates, the award may be given to a qualified international student advancing to the third year of study in the programs.

Student must show commendable academic and clinical standing. Recipient(s) should not be judged on academic GPA alone. Recipients must demonstrate professional conduct and initiative in both academic and clinical settings by seeking our creative and diverse clinical, academic, and related service learning experiences during their program(s) of study. In the absence of a qualified candidate, the award may be given to a qualified international student advancing to the third year of study in the program. If no international student(s) candidates are available, the spendable allocation for that year shall be returned to the principal of the fund in support of future growth.
