Don Burdick

Dr. C. Shane Hunt served as Dean and Michael C. Ruettgers Professor of Marketing for the College of Business from 2020 to 2025. Shane’s leadership during this time was instrumental in the College’s growth in fundraising, enrollment, and programs. Shane’s wife, Jenifer, was very involved with the college and campus community, including as serving as the President of the ISU Women’s club. During Shane’s time with ISU, he assisted in securing 35 new endowed scholarships and 11 new endowed professorships for the College of Business.
Shane is a first-generation college student. He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed his PhD at Oklahoma State University in 2007. Shane has authored three textbooks with McGraw-Hill, served on a variety of non-profit boards including PBS and United Way, and was a champion of Pocatello during his time at ISU. Shane and his wife, Jenifer – who met in MBA school – have two children Andrew (an ISU alumnus) and Sarah. Shane and Andrew have visited all major league baseball stadiums, and Shane and Sarah have visited each US National Park.
Shane’s positivity and enthusiasm is infectious. He built a culture of positivity and warmth in the College that will have lasting positive impacts on business faculty, staff, and students. He is well known in the community for his positivity, his love of Chik-fil-A and Diet Dr. Pepper, and his incredible leadership.

Impact

This endowment was started as a tribute to Shane and all that he has done for ISU. Many alumni, staff, and community members have contributed to this endowment. The lead donors for this gift are Don and Wendy Burdick, both staunch supporters of Idaho State University and believers in the kind of culture of success that Shane Hunt built while serving as Dean.
