Dr. Christopher R. DeCou
Dr. Christopher DeCou is a licensed clinical psychologist, and graduate of the ISU Clinical Psychology PhD Program. Rebecca DeCou is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. In addition to supporting Dr. DeCou during his graduate studies at ISU, she also served as an adjunct clinical professor in the ISU Department of Communications Sciences and Disorders from 2013-2015.
Dr. DeCou served as President of the ISU Psychology Graduate Students Association in 2014-2015 and President of the
ISU Graduate Students Association in 2015-2016. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Service Psychologists, and Sigma Xi. While at ISU, his work was recognized by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the Society for Clinical Psychology. Dr. DeCou received the Earl H. Swanson Jr. Memorial Scholarship, as well as the ISU Outstanding Clinical Psychology Graduate Student award in 2015, and the ISU Clinical Research Award in 2014. He also received the Joseph E. Carr Award for Outstanding Achievement in Empirically-supported Psychotherapies and the Joseph Becker Research Award while completing his predoctoral internship at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Dr. DeCou has published myriad academic papers in peer-reviewed journals, including more than a dozen papers with ISU faculty co-authors from his time as a Clinical Psychology graduate student.
Impact
Christopher and Rebecca DeCou, along with their family, desire to establish the DeCou Family Endowment for Suicide Prevention in support of ISU Clinical Psychology PhD students who are engaged in the study and prevention of suicide. To support the next generation of suicide prevention scholars, Dr. DeCou and family are delighted to establish this fund to ensure that students have the support needed to make original contributions to the study and prevention of suicide, including dissertation research completed in partial fulfillment of degree requirements.
