Dale and Viola Carter Memorial

  • DALE AND VIOLA CARTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP*

Mrs. Viola Carter, the family and many friends of Dale Carter have donated funds to establish a scholarship in his honor.

Dale Carter was a journeyman electrician who worked for many years in the Pocatello area. He was trained in Kansas City, Missouri, worked in Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Washington, California, and finally settled in Idaho in 1945. Mr. Carter retired in Pocatello after many years of service at the AEC site and various contractors. Projects he worked on include the Palisades Dam power plant and installation and maintenance of various electrical systems at Idaho State University.

Dale was very interested in education and kept himself abreast of new technology by taking classes at various locations including Idaho State University.

Carter’s son Richard graduated from the ISU School of Applied Technology program in Electrical Technology/Instrumentation in May 1981, and is now employed by Battle Mountain Gold Company in Battle Mountain, Nevada. The Carters have been supportive of the two-year program at the School of Applied Technology and wanted to demonstrate that support by the establishment of the Dale Carter Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded each semester to a deserving student enrolled in the second year of the ISU School of Applied Technology Electrical/Instrumentation Technology program.
