George T. Murray
George T. Murray graduated with honors from ISC’s College of Pharmacy in 1947. During school, he was a leader in student government serving as student body president in 1945-46 and contributing significantly to the effort to transform the SBUI to ISC, which became a reality in 1947. Except for an interruption to serve in the Medical Services Corps, George practiced pharmacy in Boise from 1947 until he purchased Homedale Drug in 1962. For the next 22 years, in addition to serving his patients in his community pharmacy, he served the people of Homedale, Owyhee County, and the State of Idaho in numerous civic positions. He was a city councilman for 7 years, mayor of Homedale for 13 years and was a member and officer in many service organizations. Among other honors, he received the Idaho Statesman’s Distinguished Citizen Award. George married Norma Marie Jones in 1955 and they had two children, Kimberly and Shane.
