Grant M. Thomas

Grant Thomas was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. After graduating from Pocatello High School, he attended Idaho State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1974. He built an enjoyable and fulfilling career in social work beginning as a caseworker with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in the Pocatello area until his retirement as the Regional Program Specialist for Family and Children’s Services in Region 6 of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. Grant has also been a long-time supporter of ISU programs and other student scholarship opportunities, and was an adjunct professor at ISU, teaching and training sociology students completing their practicums.
Grant and his wife, Donna, are deeply engaged in the Pocatello and ISU communities, regularly attending Idaho Civic Symphony events, women’s basketball games, and Idaho Museum of Natural History events. Grant and
Donna are also involved in other local organizations such as the Native Plant Society and the local Audubon Society. He has maintained friendships with classmates from Pocatello High School who also continued their education at ISU and he enjoys being a part of the Bengal alumni community.

Impact

Grant’s love for ISU and Pocatello High School, and his experiences throughout his career have inspired him to establish this endowed scholarship. He is grateful to be able to support students like himself as they pursue their education and career goals.
