ISU-Meridian Nursing students “Action Jackson” Scholarship*
Donated by John William Jackson in honor of Dr. Brenda Williams
Idaho State University-Meridian accelerated nursing students awarded scholarships in memory of Boise physician Brenda Williams who died of breast cancer in 2009.
The scholarships were granted through The John William Jackson Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation. The Fund was established in 2000 by friends and family of John Jackson to advance academic scholarship, performing arts and outdoor sporting for Idaho youth. Jackson, a scholar and accomplished soccer player and mountaineer, died in a climbing accident in Central Asia.
ISU-Meridian’s accelerated nursing program— the only one of its kind in Idaho— allows students to earn the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 16 months. To be accepted into the program, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and complete program prerequisites.
The Idaho Community Foundation is a statewide nonprofit organization composed of over 400 individual funds, pooled together for efficient management. Total assets are more than $55 million. Since its inception in 1988, ICF has made charitable distributions totaling more than $41 million.
