Joseph W. Carlson

Shortly after graduating from the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy in 1951, Joe Carlson was hired as a professional representative for Merck and Company and moved to Utah. During his 32-year career with Merck and Company, Joe held many positions in sales, government affairs and U.S. operations. Joe’s experience in the pharmaceutical industry has shown him that combining pharmacy with business administration provides many opportunities. Joe Carlson is a member of the Idaho State University Foundation Board of Directors and an active member of the Dean’s Advisory Council in the College of Pharmacy. He established this endowment to assist married students in the third and fourth years of the professional pharmacy program.
