Lawrence W. & Debra L. Updyke

Debra and Lawrence “Larry” Updyke are 1984 graduates of the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy. The couple resides in East Lyme, Connecticut. Debra is currently the pharmacy manager at Big Y Grocery Store. She also is a certified diabetes educator, a certified disease manager for diabetes and a board member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Greater New Haven Chapter.

After graduating from the ISU College of Pharmacy, Larry attended Purdue University and graduated in 1990 with a Ph.D. in toxicology. He did a post-doctorate at Eli Lily in Green Field, Indiana. Presently he is Director of Toxicology in the Drug Safety Division at Pfizer in Groton, Connecticut. “We have benefited greatly from the education we received at Idaho State. If, by creating this endowment, we can help someone have as much fun as we did and fulfill his or her dream of becoming a member of the health care system, then we have done what we set out to do.
