MARY LOUISE TODD MEMORIAL ENDOWMENT IN LICENCED PRACTICAL NURSINGAT IDAHO STATE UNIVERSITY
Idaho State University’s Licenced Practical Nursing (LPN) program students have the opportunity to apply for a new scholarship in memory of Mary Louise Todd. Mrs. Todd passed away in January 2000 and her two daughters, Suzanne Louise Todd and Lynda Lee Todd, set up an endowment at ISU in their mother’s honor.
Mary Louise Todd was a longtime resident of Pocatello and was an active ISU supporter. She was a member of the nursing faculty in the LPN program at ISU from 1954 until retiring in 1982. “Her reputation among students, peers and hospital staff was exceptional, and her dedication to students in school was exemplary,” said Dr. Ranaye Marsh, Dean, College of Technology.
She attended schools at Wilmington, Delaware and received a diploma of nursing from Wilmington General Hospital. Mrs. Todd received her Bachelor of Science from Idaho State College (ISU) in 1954.
Prior to her time at ISU, Todd served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, received an honorable discharge in 1946 as a second lieutenant, and worked as a registered nurse from 1943-1981.
She was an avid baseball, football, and hockey fan. She loved to garden and participate in community activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Ruth Chapter No. 3, Order of Eastern Star, National Nursing Honor Society, American Nurses Association and PEO. She was active with American Red Cross and Hospice.
Her husband Paul H. Todd created, developed, and implemented a law enforcement curriculum at ISU. After the death of her husband in 1990, Mrs. Todd set up an endowment for students of the ISU Law Enforcement program.
The Mary Louise Todd Memorial Scholarship is designed to provide one or more full fee scholarships annually. In order to be a candidate for the scholarship, students must be enrolled in the College of Technology’s LPN program as full-time students and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference will be given to Idaho residents.
