HAZEL M. HENDERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Hazel Henderson was an educator for over 25 years in the Pocatello area, she served at ISU Preschool, Whittier Elementary, Tyhee Elementary, and Syringa Elementary. Her excellence in teaching inspired two of her children to enter in to the field of education.
“Mom made a classroom come alive, how? She helped a struggling child relax and have fun learning. She manages this in part because she could look at the world through their eyes, see the hurdles they faced from their perspectives, and create ways to learn that validated their sense of self,” said Bonnie Brown, Hazel’s daughter.
Hazel was described by many as an extraordinary person. She had a passion for education, and tremendous personal strength. She had a love for Idaho State University and students, therefore decided to leave part of her living trust to ISU to help students achieve their educational and life goals.
