Neal Atlee Broyles Jr.
Neal and Dorothy Broyles established this endowment in memory of their son, who passed away in 2000. Neal Jr. graduated from ISU with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and chemistry in 1968. During a tour of duty in Vietnam, Neal Jr. served with a scout dog, named Fang, on 30 helicopter missions, searching the jungle for enemy soldiers before U.S. troops were sent into an area of combat. His efforts prevented the deaths of many soldiers. Following the military, he worked 31 years for the U.S. Postal Service. “Helping others came naturally to Neal,” Dorothy said. “This endowment is our continuation of his caring and support.”
