Rosemary Sampson Wells
This endowment, established by Drs. Joy B. and Elmer M. Plein in honor of their dear friend and Joy’s ISC classmate, provides scholarships to women pharmacy students who are Idaho residents and who exhibit academic excellence and leadership in student and/or professional organizations.
Rosemary Samson Wells, the first one in her family to attend college, was graduated from ISC’s College of Pharmacy in 1947. For Rosemary, the heart of the profession was a caring interaction with patients and she practiced community and clinical pharmacy in the Boise area for more than 40 years. She was described by her friends and colleagues as an enthusiastic and capable leader, genuinely committed to her patients, extroverted, knowledgeable, and fun. Rosemary served as president of ISPA in 1977-78 and subsequently became the executive director of the association. In this position, her administrative skill and her commitment to creating continuing professional education for Idaho pharmacists received national recognition. Rosemary married George Calvin Wells in 1947 while they were both ISC students. They had two children, Randy and Rosalie.
