Huabin Chen, originally from Shanghai China, came to the United States in 1987 to pursue his advanced degree. He started his Master in Education degree at the College of Education, Idaho State University. This was his very first experience studying overseas, he faced numerous challenges both academically and financially. However, it was the unwavering support and guidance from the faculty, staff, and his fellow students at ISU, especially from his academic advisor, Dr. Beverly Klug, and his fellow student Ms. Loretta Crockett that made his journey truly remarkable. He couldn’t finish his studies without their help. Their dedication to nurturing his educational growth and providing him with a platform to excel has shaped him into the person he is today. Mr. Chen then went to Indiana University after graduation from ISU and completed his Ph.D. program in science education. He taught various education courses at one university in Washington State for almost 23 years. He retired from that university as a full professor in 2018. Jeff Chen, Chen’s son came to Pocatello when he was 7 years old, he had a wonderful childhood there. Very unfortunately, he passed away due to sickness just before finishing his bachelor’s degree in Business. In memory of Chen’s beloved son and to also express sincere gratitude to the School of Education at Idaho State
