Breaking the Stigma Scholarship

Disability stigma is still very real and affects people every day. While much work has been done to break down physical and mental stigmas, they continue to run deep in our society. Amicus Legal Group is incredibly passionate about this subject.
As a personal injury law firm, we work tirelessly to ensure that those who have experienced wrongdoing receive the compensation they deserve so that they may get back to living a wholesome life. After an accident, an injured person will face many new challenges. Facing these new challenges can be overwhelming, and we hate to see our clients experience stigma on top of it.
For these reasons, we have created the Breaking the Stigma Scholarship. We hope that through this scholarship, we can bring more awareness and discussion to these issues. We believe that addressing issues through dialogue is a step towards educating, healing, and growing. For the scholarship, we ask that students write about ways in which we, as a society, can better work to break stigmas surrounding different disabilities. Reflect on challenges you have had to overcome and discuss the ways stigmas about your disability have impacted your life.
