Agnes Just Reid Memorial Scholarship

For Academic Year 2024-25. The Agnes Just Reid Memorial Scholarship (English Department) is awarded to undergraduate students interested in or majoring in the field of Creative Writing, Journalism, or Public Publications. Recipients should demonstrate notable potential in creative writing, in poetry, short fiction or the personal essay. Students must be U.S. citizens. and must have a 2.50 GPA or greater.

Agnes Just Reid,1886-1976, a daughter of Idaho pioneers, lived her entire life on the Blackfoot River near Firth. The wife of a rancher and the mother of five sons who still farm in the region, Mrs. Reid found in writing the means to express her zest for life. For more than fifty years, she contributed a weekly column to the Blackfoot newspaper. Her book, Letters from Long Ago, is based on the experiences of her mother, who came to the intermountain country as a young woman. The scholarship is offered as a memorial to her by the Friends of Agnes Just Reid.
