Pacific Seed Association College Scholarship

Students who are eligible are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Pacific Seed Association to be awarded at our February convention. There will be up to four $1,000 scholarships awarded each year. For students to be eligible, they must be finishing their Sophomore, Junior, or Senior year of college, or first year of grad school.
Eligibility: Major fields of study include, but are not limited to the following: plant science,
plant physiology, soil science, botany, agribusiness, etc. Special interest in the seed industry is a
plus. Anyone enrolling as an undergraduate junior or senior or graduate student is eligible. Funds
will be made available to full-time students enrolling in a 4-year college or university.
Instructions: Application must be typewritten (or use the fillable .pdf format) and must be
completed in full or it will not be considered. Please note the criteria below used in
evaluating your application. Include letter of recommendation and grades.
Criteria: Awards are given on the basis of the following criteria:
• Intent to pursue a career in agriculture and/or the seed industry
• Industry experience (if any)
GPA/Extracurricular activities and scholastic achievement
• Essay
• Letter of recommendation

Applicants are required to attach an official transcript, or have the college/university send one to the address below, to be eligible.
Completed applications must be postmarked by the December 31 deadline, annually.
Essay: “Why are you interested in agriculture, particularly as it relates to the U.S. seed industry?”
Please attach an essay of 500 to 1000 words (please note this is NOT a personal history).
Your official college transcript, mailed to us by your college, is necessary for you to qualify for
consideration.
