Hispanic Awareness Leadership Organization (HALO) Scholarship

The Idaho State University HALO recognizes outstanding Latino/Hispanic students in the community achieving great academic success and wishes to help offset the first-year costs for incoming freshmen with a $500 scholarship.
Requirements: Must be a Latino/Hispanic Student, Must be a current high school senior graduating from
one of the following high schools or of the surrounding area: Pocatello, Century, Highland, Blackfoot, Snake River, Aberdeen,
American Falls, Idaho Falls, Bonneville , Hillcrest, Rigby, or Skyline High School.
• 3.0 minimum GPA
• Must have taken ACT/SAT or other placement exam.
• Must attend HALO cultural night in order to receive scholarship (February 24, 2018).
• Must attend Idaho State University starting FALL 2018.
• Include a resume of scholarly, vocational accomplishments or recognition you have received (“bragging list”, such as involvement, awards, leadership positions, etc.)
• Include 500-750 word ESSAY: What obstacles as a Latino/Hispanic student have you encountered? How do you feel a college education will help you make a difference in the Latino community?

*NOTE: The HALO Committee will focus highly on achievements, GPA/ Exam scores, and quality/uniqueness of essay.
