Zavodnick, Zavodnick, and Lasky Bi-Annual Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship to be awarded. Applicants must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited United States college or university by Fall 2018. Required: 500-600 word essay. Topic: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that close to half of professional carpenters and plumbers have suffered some degree of hearing loss from repeated loud banging and drilling. Companies who employ workers in such high-risk environments are required to provide adequate protective gear for employees who are regularly exposed to loud noises. However, many times the protective gear is worn, damaged, or defective and does not sufficiently protect from hearing loss. What do you think companies can do in order to better protect workers from hearing loss? What degree do you believe employees should go to in order to protect themselves from hearing loss?
